Zentai suits, which is a special style of tight costume, also named as
morphsuits, could bring in a lot of fun. Right now people who buy zentai suits
are mainly these groups: 1)really love zentai and glad to wear them as one part
of the daily wear; 2)love zentai costumes and feel comfortable to sleep in that;
3)for parties, shows, cosplay, etc.
For the first two reasons, it's very easy to find the ideal suits from the
shops, as there are always different colors and materials to select from. The
key here, is to find the color or camouflage you love, without too many specific
requirements. However, for the third reason, it's much harder.
For cosplay or anime con, most costumes from the movies or comic, could be
found at the costumes stores, and they are not pricey either. However, among
them there are a special group of costumes, which are skin tight, such as the
spiderman costume, the cat girl's black shiny zentai outfit. If the character
you want to cosplay are wearing a suit from this style, it's harder to get the
proper suits. Except some characters with long history, or large popularity of
fans, such as as spiderman, or superhero man, batman, etc, which already have a
lot of different styles for you to select from, it's time-consuming to find
other skin-tight zentai like costumes.
There are many stores which provide the custom-tailor service. However,
different from the tailor based on size, this often requires much higher expense
compared with general morphsuits. When it comes to this situation, the most
convenient and economic way to do, is to use the similar style zentai outfits as
base, then attach stuffs to them, to create the great costume by your own.
Besides the full body covered suits, there are also PVC costumes, with zippers
at front and no hood. You could select one which meets your requirement, then
the next important step, is to attach stuffs on.
There are several ways to do this. If you want to zentai suits available for
other use or costumes later, the best selection is to attach the stuffs by glue.
This is easy and convenient. You could paste with the super glue / tacky glue.
However, this method couldn't be applied for any of the following conditions:
1)Stuffs to be attached are heavy; 2)You need the costume for some important
activities. The stuffs pasted this way are very unstable. Compared with glue,
Velcro is a better idea, although it can't fully guarantee that the stuffs
always stay at the same spot of the suit.
Compared with these, the buttons are a great idea if you are doing a
skin-tight costume like Gantz's. There are many different shapes of buttons to
select from. Even better, it could be much easier to paste tapes onto the
buttons, and achieve whatever appearance you want.
No matter which solution you want to use, don't forget to decide the
locations for the stuffs after wearing the suits on, as the elastic zentai suits
could easily shrink or expand after you put on/off. You could use the mirror to
help you decide the spots, or seek help from friends.
